Choose the loss before the entry

Beginners ask where to enter. Survivors ask how much is gone if they are wrong.

The correct order: pick your risk (1–2% of the account) → place the stop on price structure → size falls out of those two numbers. Size is an output, not a choice.

Doing it backwards — picking size first, then fitting a stop to it — is how stops end up exactly where the market will reach them.

Run it on your own numbers

A more important question than any entry. You choose what you can lose; the stop distance then decides the size, not the other way round.
